Rain, Rain, Come and Play

The spring rains have arrived and we are all a little stir crazy. The little ones keep asking to go outside and play. So when the rain let up a bit, I said why not. It's just water right. The kids were so excited. A few minutes later, dawning rubber boots, raincoats and hats they ventured out to explore all the puddles.

I know this picture is quite blurry, but it captures the action and excitement of the day. The two little ones had so much fun as the big ones lifted them up to jump into the puddles. The giggles were endless.

Sarah rated a 10 for this splash. The biggest of the day I think.

And not to be out done by her big sister. Hannah shows off her puddle jumping skill. I'm glad my camera has a decent zoom, or I think I would have ended up all wet too.

And of course, Rebekah wants to be just like her big sisters. If they can do so can I is her new motto. She can make quite a splash, both in and out of the puddles.

I just love this picture of the muddy faces. You can just tell they had a blast!

Water, dirt and fresh air. All the ingredients for healthy, happy kids. It saddens me every time I think of all the children who don't get to jump in mud puddles or explore the outside world around them. God created the world for us to enjoy and take care of. HIS presence and greatness is so evident. I love sharing with my children just how great HE is, and taking time to splash in the mud puddles, dance in the rain, smell the flowers and race the clouds is all part of it.

If you are looking for ways to get outside with your family, but just don't know where to begin, check out the book I Love Dirt by Jennifer Ward. Mrs. Ward offers easy and FREE ideas for every season of the year. She even throws in a nature/science tip related to every activity. How cool is that.
