Making Music - Violin

The girls attended the first music class with our homeschool group. The classes are being held at Mountain Top Music and are an introduction to five different instruments. This first week was the violin. Neither of the girls had ever attempted to play a violin before. Sarah wasn't too sure, but Hannah loved it. She thinks she might even like to take violin lessons. However, she is waiting to see how she feels about the other instruments before jumping in.

Ellen was great with the kids. They learned about the musical alphabet and the scale. She had them sing a song, both with the words and the names of the notes. Then each child, and there were 23 of them, had the chance to play the song.

My grandfather played the violin beautifully. I think he would have enjoyed seeing all these children play, especially his two great granddaughters. I still think of you often Grandpa. Miss you and love you lots.
