Preparing The Soil

We were supper excited to prepare our garden for planting. The work was made a lot easier by the surprise appearance of a rototiller. A co-worker of Doug's lent it to us for the weekend. How cool is that?! Above Doug is cutting the new area for our potatoes.
Our garden from last year was a breeze to get ready with the rototiller. The girls are picking out rocks and weeds . Then we added 160 pounds of organic manure.

Rebekah worked just as hard if not harder than the rest of us. She was still collecting rocks when the other two has quit for a water break.

Here are some of our veggies we started from seed. They are looking really good. We can't wait to get them in the ground. Unfortunately we have another three weeks or so before it is safe to do that. We wouldn't want to loos all our hard work to a late frost. So for now they enjoy the sunny day, but return to the kitchen for the evening. I am thinking that we may have to transplant some of them into bigger pots before they go in the ground outside.

And I couldn't resist the dirty piggies after a hard days work. Aren't they cute?
