We got the call today. Our day old baby chick were in! We weren't expecting them until Saturday so we had to hurry to get everything ready. Rebekah looks on as Papa puts the water in their box. For now the chicks will live in the kitchen. It is still too cool to let them outside. They will need to have their feathers grow in. That should give us just enough time to get the coop built. We start on that on Saturday.
Rebekah had to inspect each little chick before it was put in the box. She was so excited! I love to watch her expressions and see the wonder in her eyes.
Safe and sound all 19 chicks made it to there new home. Most of them have names now, but I'm not sure if the girls can really tell them apart. I think the same chick might have about four different names. Hopefully this wont cause an identity crisis.
Yay, they're here! Can't wait to "meet" them!!
ReplyDeleteWe love raising chickens (and more recently turkeys). My children are always so excited each time we get some new baby chicks. Yesterday we discovered another hen had hatched some chicks. Enjoy!
