Matching Game

I've been trying to get a little bit of crafting done for the girls' Easter Baskets. I'm not big on a ton of candy, although I'm sure the girls wish I was.

Rebekah has been very excited about games lately. She loves to play secret door which is a co-operative matching game So I thought a little matching game would be perfect for her. It was so easy to put together and everything I needed I was able to collect from around the house. Another plus for this frugal mom.

I stamped two of ten different images on some wooden disks. Let them dry and gave them a quick rub with some bees wax polish. The draw string bag was a quick sew following this tutorial.

Quick and easy matching game that will be easy to take with us.

Yarn Along ~ More Socks

Joining Ginny in her weekly Yarn Along. In her words:

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a single photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

Life has been very busy and not much knitting has gotten done. Seems I have kind of lost my rhythm. But my fingers are itching to get back in the grove. And I better hurry as these socks have a deadline. I am loving how the blues and greens are melting together in this yarn. They are definitely very Spring. Which is just what I need right now as I woke to more snow, just flurries mind you but it was still snow. Oh how I am ready for SPRING!

As for reading, I have been hopping between quite a few books lately. Many of which were recommend by the wonderful ladies participating in the yarn along. However, then Rebekah's curriculum for next year arrived and I haven't been able to put it down. Even though I have been homeschooling for 10 years now I am still learning so much about teaching, learning, childhood, myself and so much more. Homeschooling has been such a wonderful journey for our entire family.

Don't forget to stop by the other Yarn Along participants for some fiber inspiration and a great reading list.

Menu Plan ~ Week of April 4th

Towards the end of a season do you start to get tired of the food? I sure do. I am tired of the soups and stews, the heavy pasta meals and mashed potatoes of winter. I am ready for the lighter meal of spring. However, when the temperature are still in the 30s at dinner time it is hard to eat just a salad. My shivering body wants a little more. All this is to wait I can't wait for spring to truly arrive here in New England. And our menu for the week has a lot of the old favorites we have had a lot of this winter.

April Fools

I was so excited to spot the first Robin just the other day, a sure sign of Spring. The days were getting a little warmer, the snow was beginning to recede and the mud, the glorious mud was turning up everywhere. Mud in New England is the surest sign of Spring. And so when the weather man started predicting a BIG snow storm heading our way on April 1st, many of us were hoping it was one of the biggest April Fools jokes ever played. Not so. This is the view from our kitchen window this morning. Lots of snow and not a Robin in sight. And the snow is still coming down. Hopefully the temperatures will rise quickly and the snow wont last long. I am ready for Spring! And I just wanted to share this cute April Fool's story I found over at Bending Birches, a lovely Waldorf inspired blog. I love how she "acted" out the story for her children.
